hen to change to 3rd on unsullied car?
i get a brand new vw polo 1.4TDi - 100 miles on clock -
if i modification from 2nd to 3rd gear at 30 miles an hour or 25 miles the engine starts to scream - but if i make over it aorung 35 mph or 37 ish its ok? is this normal as my frail polo 1.4cl (manual petrol) 1997 was ok - is it coz its deisal it can dance higher contained by lower gear
diesel is usualy a bit different to petrol you usually own to change gear early than you would in petrol.
you should really work it out by revs not mph as revs give you more idea as to how not easy the engine is working in that gear also the rumble of the engine should tell you
Jeezus... Change gears when the engine feels close to you need to. Diesels don't rev as glorious as petrol. Don't just adjust gear according to your speed...
When you change from 2nd to 3rd, the revs should drop. The engine shouldn't screech. You are doing something very wrong.

Yeah between 35 and 40 is fine,if in attendance is a tcaometer i'd let it progress to around 2,500 rpm's play it by ear thats what i do.
