Is there any path to fix it other than a trip to the garage?

Good word..... Nothing serious. Seeing as you put less than 5 ltrs within..... Fill the tank FULL near petrol, and within give or take a few a week, your car should be running fine again.
Do not run it you will blight the engine completely, its better to get it towed to a garage as if you drive it the engine could explode.
