Why are spanking new belts sqeeking?

I have a 1997 Ram Dodge van. Recently I had the belt and a self adjust belt tensioner replaced. 50 miles later the belt started sqeeking. took it back to my mechanic and he replaced the belt. Now 20 miles subsequently and the belt started sqeeking again. Does anybody know why this is happening.

are you getting oil on the belts, that will get them squeel.

Do i own to rate him?

Have mechanic check the alignment of the various pulleys.

Self-adjuster may be too tight also.

Answers:    WHat causes a belt squeal is loss of friction-like contained by a glazed or loose belt, AND/OR increased load. This added drag might be from any component driven off the belt, similar to waterpump, smog pump, A/C, alternator, etc. Chances are, the mechanic was guessing the tensioner was bad-however the belt could've worn due to worn-out bearing causing a mis-aligned pulley. Gotta check underhood while running to listen for the culprit. Might have to check respectively belt-driven component seperately.
Good Luck!
