I have a 1997 Grand Prix GTP. My AC/heat in my saloon both work great but I have to have it on smooth 5 (it goes from 1-5) or it won't blow. I'm just wondering is it freshly some sort of valve or something that needs to be fixed or what?
The switch "short circuits" the ballast resistor to the blower motor when place on dignified. Therefore, I suspect your ballast resistor is defective or the wires to it.
Answers: The problem is beside your switch. there are no valves, the switch controls how much power go to your blower motor. at 1 you get minimal power, at 5 you get max power.
you could try to verbs up the contacts in the switch by turning the switch back and forth extremely fast or you can take the switch apart and manually verbs up the contacts. these types of switches on newer cars are usually tamper proof and hard to take apart in need destroying the switch itself, you may very well enjoy to invest in a new switch
