My 87 Escort will die suddenly when idling or just after departing a parked position and then either not restart for a while (it clicks but the engine won't turn) or it take a jump start, which gets it running straight away. I've already replaced the battery. What next; which parts to check contained by what order?
The alternator might be bad and may not be keeping the battery-operated charged.Make sure the battery post are clean also.
It could be the alternator, you see even if you replaced the battery-operated they go dead quick, the alternator recharges the battery while the motor is running and if it is not working your batteries will budge dead fast. I have the same problem with my hoary blazer and a new alternator fixed it.

Answers: Alternator or connections going from the alt. to the battery

Alternator maybe? It should still start though if the battery-operated is good. Did it work after you replaced the battery, and shortly after resume near the starting problems? If not, I don't know. The reason I say this is because you utter it takes a jump now. Fist to grasp rid of the alternator theory. with the saloon running remove the negative battery cable. If the sports car dies the alternator is bad. Check your connections as well. If for some sense the alternator isn't charging the battery it will run at idle but when you get going it places more demand on the battery output and the mobile doen't have the extra capacity to run the electrical system resembling this.My vehicle wouldn't start?
