Why is my saloon whining?

I have a 2000 Chevy Blazer.

The end couple of days, my car have been making a "whining" rumble. It is loudest when you start to accelerate, but next I think it is freshly drowned out by the sound of the engine.

I am not sure if it is connected, but I also notice last hours of darkness that when my car is idle, the "volts" gauge read about 12, next to the dash lights dim, but moves up to 14 beside brighter dash lights as I get faster.

Could these two be connected? Could it be my alternator?

Answers:    Pulling a battery cable may give the impression of being like a suitable theory, but that surrounded by itself can blow out the regulator in the alternator, making what be once a good component a bad one.

Simply varying the belt without trialling is stupid - what if you spend the money to put a brand new belt on at hand and the alternator locks up and wrecks your new belt?

Best piece you can do is go to one of the big auto part of the pack stores and have them interview your charging system for free - it's a simple test that they can do while adjectives the parts are still in your vehicle.

Without proper diagnosis, you'll only be throwing money away.

That is exactly what it is. Your alternator is bad and the disturbance your are hearing is the bearing inside the alternator
