its a 89 camaro with a 350 engine out of a early '70's p/u. the thermostat have been replaced with a 160 and a 180 and no thermostat. i hold had it flushed and the fluid does circulate. i have bypassed the oven core. i have replaced the fan near a flex fan. i have tried different coolants, no difference. it take a long time to get too hot (depends on outside temp). 80deg outside = about 40 min of around town driving to overheat. it get to about 220 deg if i let it. at this temp i start leak around the thermostat housing. if i drive on the highway (75mph) it gets hot quicker. it has never overheated (boil over) that i know ((a)least since i've have it) the engine has great oil pressure and runs great save for the temp. what's left? is the head sick? i dont notice the level of coolant dropping or leak or any white smoke out the tail pipe. exhaust does have alot of sulfur smell . help!! appreciation
Looks like you tried a lot of stuff. Is your radiator plugged up?
Third gen Camaros have an nouns dam under the radiator. When they plunge off, they overheat at highway speeds.

Answers: After driving, palm your hand over the radiator (or use a infrared thermometer that reads surface temperature) to be aware of (or read) if the entire core is hot. If you detect cold areas, then the flow tubes are blocked not allowing coolant to circulate. Thermostat should be used. I recomend 195.

Besides the upper air dam, make sure you own the shroud around the radiator fan. You don't need a dampen pump if you see fluid circulating in the radiator cap collar. Your problem could be the impeller pump (water recirculating pump). This could be inexact and may not pushing the water around efficiently when the dampen is warm or hot. The pump is easily located as the admirer belt drives it. one end drives the alternator, the other end away from the drive shaft have the pump pulley. You would have to replace the entire pump. Check this out as the impeller may be perfect when cool.

I had a Oldsmobile that I replaced the engine and it over fry like yours. It turned out the the timing was past its sell-by date enough to let the motor run but overheated all the time. Once I adjusted the timing it go away. Good Luck.Looks like you tried a lot of stuff. Is your radiator plugged up?
