Parked my car and put it contained by park the dash board said it be still in drive, but it be parked. tried to start it and it wont start, i can move the automatic stick from gear to gear but it wont start

A perplexing problem indeed. If I had to guess I would probably vote the PCM(powertrain control module)is either substandard or malfunctioning because of a sensor. If it is says it is still surrounded by drive and you can turn it over the problem has overrode your colourless safety switch. Not knowing what loving of car it is make it really difficult to troubleshoot. Different car maker have different components that can anomaly and cause numerous problems. If I be you I would try to disconnect the battery and agree to the car's computers reset. You might get lucky and you might not. With electrical problems specifically always a honest place to start.
