Why would you want to know what your exhaust temp is?

Answers:    Well on turbo charged vehicles similar to some modified cars or modified turbo diesels you want to make sure you are not overheating the turbocharger. This can arise especially if the vehicle is modified to allow more boost. Turbos are not cheap to replace.

Well, my assumption is if they are too hot, then you know your engine is too hot... Aside from that, I wouldn't know much of a principle to want or need to know how hot the exhaust is. Maybe what unquestionable gas content in the exhaust is, but not heat. I could be wrong though.
