I want to get an older s10 and put a small engine into it. I merely want a truck that gets great millage. I am esentially going to build this truck to be a daily driver. (40 or more miles a day) I hold an old 91 toyota corolla that has a 4afe 1.6l surrounded by it. The engine is great its just that it is a car and i instinctively hate cars. So would i be able to hold the front end parts out of the toyota and convert it to work in the s10 or is within a way to twist the engine and mount it to a common rear-wheel drive tranny?

NO WAY. completely diffrent configuration. the tranny is made for a front tiller drive. it wont work trust me. you need to find a rear reins drive engine set up. im a ASE master tech trust me. just find a little toyota truck or something, they go and get great gas mileage.

Answers: Yes it is possible, - but you would have to get the "right" engine. Also it would enjoy to bolt to the transmission, or have a adapter available, -(which probably can be found at a "custom coup¨¦ shop", - or racing parts supply house! A good number of engines turn contained by the same direction when they run,
And yes a front wheel drive front lapse could be cut and put in front of the S-10, - but it would be a real livelihood, and you probably would want to have somebody professional do the conversion on the frames and front suspension! This would most likely cost you a "bundle"!
But near is a third option, and that is to buy an elder japanese car with the engine and nouns in good shape, and put the total thing in your truck, This would individual require adapting the transmission and engine mounts to construct it fit! -- Then -- if you want you can also put in the rear axle, and enjoy driveshaft cut and extended or shortened to couple up right! It is infinately easier to adapt the rear suspension than the front, and you don't hold to worry about the intergrity of the steering components!
I don't know what year the truck is, but the elder ones were peretty much "standard" size trucks, the newer ones are more the size of Nissan, Isusu, and Mazda, or Toyota trucks. you naturally want to draw from big enough engine to pull it ok, but the bigger the engine, - after a certian point will only use more gas than you really need to pull a truck the size you hold! All those "horses" keep right on eating, even if they aren't neded to do the work!
I myself am contemplating putting contained by complete engine, transmission ond rear axle/suspension into my 83 Chev 1/2 ton PU, -- it get about 8mpg (when the transmission be working), - now the transmission is out of action, and I don't intend to spend $6-800 to get a rebuilt nouns! It of course had to enjoy a "T5" transmission in it,- which is in the region of the most expensive one they put in trucks that year! I have both a 85 Cadillac Deville, and a Chev caprice that are wrecked or rusted out,- and neither enjoy good titles! I have be thinkng about installing the engine and transmission and the flipside end, - just as described above! Then I will be driving a "car" by design,- - true it will be a "lighter" truck, but I don't haul much weight beside it most of the time anyway!The only decision vanished is whether to remove the electronics and put them in to run stuff in the pickup, - or to purely put the carb on and drive it with the old non-computerized system!
If the result get 15mpg, - I wil lbe overjoyed! Both got over 20 when cars were apt!

Well...I suppose it could be done. But I doubt that it ever has been. The reason are too numerous to get into here. If you want an S-10 with a smaller motor, purely look for one with a 2.8L V6.
