12w6v2 near a autotek 1000.1?

im getting one 12w6v2 and i have a autotek 1000.1 mono amp from a pass set up do you ponder that sub can handle that much power or should i turn my gain all the route down to prevent it from blowing??

You're talking roughly speaking using a POS amp to run one of the best subs on the market.you have a problem, but it's not your power.it's going to be your shortage of quality on the amps side...I'd suggest scrapping the amp ( put up shop might give you $20.00 for it ) save your pennies and buy a JL 1000/1 to travel with your JL Sub

I would tell you to get a atmosphere amp instead of the autotek, unless you want to upgrade subs later. Honestly, if you want to stay with a single sub configuration, I would ditch that amp, and switch to a JL 500/1. Its going to do ultimate power, sound incredible and in uncomplicated compatible with other woofers if you need to switch after that. I've always enjoyed the JL amps. Look out for thier fresh line coming out. Similar to the Alpine PDX amps. Check thier website if your interested.

Answers:    You're best bet is to wire the sub in series - http://i81.photobucket.com/albums/j230/s... for an 8 ohm nouns. This will cut the power down quite a bit. You will need to adjust the gain as capably so the subs see 400 watts RMS.
