Hey I own a 1995 GMC Jimmy, I just put contained by a new pioneer headunit (http://www.pioneerelectronics.com/pna/v3... and speakers (http://www.pioneerelectronics.com/pna/v3... and it sounds angelic, but I want to get the most out of my headunit on the final of it, it has ports for spare speakers and a subwoofer, I'm considering getting a subwoofer but whats holding me back is.... Will I still inevitability to buy an amplifier? (i heard subs have need of them but I'm asking cause the player already have the ports for a sub) Will it over power and ruin the music? I listen to various types of rock (Aerosmith, Ac/Dc, Nirvana, Guns N Roses, Disturbed, etc). All opinion and ideas are greatly appreciated, appreciation in mortgage.
you do need a amp next to a sub as the last guy have described, and a sub will vastly improove the sound of your system, you'll hear things you did not know existed. also added a sub will surrounded by turn allow your deck to remove the sub frequencies from the other main speakers which removes a massive demand from them resulting within better sound from the upper frequencies as capably.. A sub in nonspecific gives the system a markedly full sound and more depth and temperature, and with the band you described your missing out on some intense bass lines. disturmed in exceptional, has some indigestible bass hits, like contained by the song "down with a sickness" here is a low fast double bas hit that you probably dont even realise is in that. see the mains typically one and only play down to about 60hz, and really below 100 are outstandingly weak, and a sub is from 20-80 (roughly) and the double bass i am refereing to is predictable around 40-60 range. so the D would not even play them at all consent to alone well.. Subs do not own to be intrusive, they have shallow mounts, and outstandingly small ones to "fill" in minus being hear blocks away...
I have see good installes where on earth the amp and sub essentially raise the floor surrounded by your rear storage nouns about 5-6" and thats it... everyhing is below in attendance. or you can get a more affordable traditional sub box that is to say about 1 cu ft. square. i recomend a small hermetic box and a 10" or 12" woofer. powered by roughly 200-400 watts. that would cost about 200-400 dollars depending on the level level you choose (see links for some ideas)
It would potential be the greatest sound improovement you would own to date.... no lie... i notably recomend a sub.....
You will inevitability to have an amp. The ports surrounded by the back are call RCA outputs and will run from your deck to the amp. If you want to upgrade your sound you can any add a sub for more bass or you can put in a 4-channel amp. This will power your new speakers and afford them more power then the manager unit. It will also hold less distortion consequently the head part and will overall increase the quality of nouns from the speakers.
Adding a subwoofer is a good model in my inference. When most people judge of subwoofers they think of some punk kid blasting his stereo and shaking his coup¨¦. This is what many ancestors do with subwoofers but it doesn't hold to be that way. If you get a low powered subwoofer and good amp you can give a little bass short it shaking you whole saloon. You will find out that with the rider of a subwoofer your audio will seem to become deeper. You will own another level of music. When I turn sour my subwoofer I am amazed at how much i seem to lose within the sound.
If you are considering buying a subwoofer i recommend that you dance to a car audio shop and look at their demos. What you can do is first listen to the setup beside the speakers and sub connected. Then while it is playing turn off the sub and see the great difference contained by the sound. If you are convinced by that you will know to carry a sub. Good Luck!!
Answers: an amplifier for your sub-woofer is a must.. The port for sub on your head element is not for sub-woofer, its to send audio signal to your amplifi er that use for your sub-woofer.
That port we beckon RCA port, its for you to connect to pre-amplifer or Amplifer by using RCA cables.
So i can enunciate that if you not using amplifier, the ports are not for use.. no amplifier= no subwoofer. unless you buy a Active subs (build in amplifier)
since u listin to mostly rock and metal i would say obtain 2 10" subs under the flipside seats on a 900W amp would b superlative
