400 watts to 1 12" Alpine Type R sub?

Im running the Alpine MRP or MRD ? -M450 amp to 1 12" Alpine Type R sub that handle 500 watts RMS. At 2 ohms which Im runnign amp to sub my amp gives 400 watts RMS to sub. You guys devise its enough to pound that thing and do you expect it will damage anything over time or anything like that. Im basically wondering how you think 400 watts will affect this monster sub cuz lots of ppl say they grant it like 650 watts etc but im not doin that.

XM or Sirius?

How much does a 2 style bleeper...

U are probably gonna under power the sub which will damage them. and after u will fry a channel or the whole amp

CIs it possible for thar to drain...

Answers:    DZ has no clue. Under powering a sub cause NO damage.

Set the gain right and you'll be fine.

The purpose of the gain is to match the signal volts RMS coming from the source (CD player, etc.) to the input of the amp to prevent clipping (damage by over powering).

Here is a guide that will assistance you set the gain correctly http://www.datafilehost.com/download.php...

You'll need a multi-meter (AC voltmeter), Microsoft Excel and a way to burn an audio CD from an MP3.

If you don't own Excel, email or IM me sparky3489(a)yahoo.com

You should be fine as long as you don't turn it up the gains (etc.) too much. The reason heaps people blow their sub-woofers when they have an underpowered amp is this: since the amp can't push the sub at the sub's RMS it won't hit as complicated, be as loud, etc. So then people turn up the gain and bass boost all the way cause it to clip.

If you were to go beside 650 watts (RMS) you definitely would blow the sub since it cant handle that power continuously.
i also enjoy a 12" type r sub... but its hooked up to a v-power amp (200w mono). its sounds great... so if you have that amp, it will be even better!

You can not below power a subwoofer... if that was the case later evertime you turn you radio down you would blow your subs.ppl need to think previously speaking.. 400 watts to your 500 watt sub will work fine.
