Two 600 watt subs one dual coil...

ok first of all, you can turn your amp as elevated as you want.. just if the amp starts smellin wierd(burning) you turn it off for just about 1/2 an hour and then turn the gain down. YES clipping is a common approach to blow subs.. You can turn your deck volume up until you hear the sub start to play "off" . like the beats will be adjectives F-ed up.. The sub will play on off beats and may stir in and then not support out. this is clipping...

good luck :DD
okay the other guy is just dumb, dont listen to him. 1st grill no it is not wrong to turn it higher than 3/4ths. You set your gain by first turning it all the passageway down then turn the volume on your radio all the path to the loudest you would listen to it at or when it starts distorting. Then turn the radio on the volume down 2 clicks. Then go to your amp and starting turning up the gain nob slowly until your hear your subs start to distort. That is right where your gain requests to be set at.
And your second question. underpowering your subs can hurt your subs but its not because they are being underpowered. It is because your amp is giving your subs a clipped signal. What that funds is that instead of the your sub making a smooth motion in and out which is what cools the voice coils of the sub the cone will reach its height and stay there for a second which means the voice coils do not move and they can start to over bake. BUT as long as you have your gains set correctly this SHOULD NOT appear. If you set your gains the way that i said above your amp should not make a contribution you a clipped signal and you should be able to turn it to the loudest you want to listen to it without a problem. But if you hear your subs starting to distort turn it down. Good Luck

How do i find which model of...

Answers:    Those are 2 desperate answers. Under powering a sub or any speaker will not harm them in any route! As far as the gain, Sparky3489 has created a very apposite tool for setting the gain correctly you can download it here http://www.datafilehost.com/download.php...
You will need Microsoft excel a multimeter and be able to burn a CD. The purpose of gain is to game the signal coming from the head unit to the input of the amp, where on earth the gain ends up will vary.
