ive looked it up online and cant rweally find anything that helps.for ported box ive have people read out everything from 3 to 9 cubic feet. i entail to know the proper cubic footage and the port size. thanks

I would recommend using Alpine's optimum ported pen size. It is in the owner's instruction book with your subs. If you don't own it then you can use the cooperation below.

This is a pretty good sounding hutch if you build it right. It will give you a pretty smooth frequency response curve so your sub will sound appropriate at any frequency. It is a good birdcage for a mix of SQ and SPL.
If you know someone who knows seriously about building and designing enclosure you can make one a short time better. I have designed lots enclosures for the Type Rs, mostly for 12s, and know that you can make over the size a little bit and return with it to maximize the SPL.
