i have a 93 safri the radio is stock the rear speackers own been removed badly by a former owner and when i tune it to am radio(no joke please)it only comes in devout some times and mostly its just static w a line or 2 comin surrounded by colud it be in the radio its self

Answers: First, check the mount for the antenna. Am reception needs a accurate ground at the base of the antenna (usually overlooked). The fender usually rusts under the platform. You can clean and remount the antenna, also check the wiring that you can see to receive sure it is in good shape. If you focus you have a problem with the radio ("w a row or 2 comin in") it would be cheaper to replace the radio than repair it.
Question, does FM work fine? if so the problem is more than likely in the ground for the antenna. I would replace the antenna in the past you replace the radio, if you are unsure where the problem is. A new ant should cost around 20-30$ + labor, see interconnect.

yeah it could be the antenna but it mite just be that the wires just come loose. yeah it could be the radio. check the wires 1st. and see how u go. Is it a in-glass antenna? Eg.) Tracing on the glass, and no physical antenna sticking out.
