i am about to put 2 12inch JL Audio 12W3V2's within my 99 grand am and i am wondering if i should bring dynamat for the trunk. i used to have a 96 mercury sable and when i put dynamat contained by the trunk it didnt make it a unharmed lot better. i have hear that dynamat extreme works wonders. does anyone know if it is worth purchasing? also, do grand am's trunk bang really bad? theres alot of elegant ams with systems where on earth i live and the trunk seems to be massively quiet.
Answers: i enjoy a 2000 grand am (same design) and i get a 12" sub making about 1200 RMS (the amps RMS, sub is 1500). i played it and my trunk rattled HORRIBLY. I put dynamat extreme throughout the entire trunk and it stopped 100% of rattle (you need it bringing up the rear your liscence plate too). The only downside is it make your sub sound approaching crap with the trunk closed (on the outside of the sports car it sounds bad anyways.) It make a big diff. in the vehicle though, much louder. hope this helps.
i enjoy a 01 grand am, and within wierd. they rattle big time, and it sounds awful when you stand outside next to the music up loud, and the doors and trunk shut. but when you get surrounded by the car, you cant hear anything bang. which is cool. i've dynamated my doors (its a 2 door) and had some gone over so i did my trunck lid. it didnt seem to give a hand much. what really rattles is the bumber cover. but you cant hear it from inside the sports car. so unless you like to listen to your music while standing outside your vehicle, then i wouldnt verbs too much about it. its really not worth the time and money to fix that bumper cover rattle.
