ok my old amp have a fuse that was 25 my investigational one is 40 i dont have to progress wirering around right it is just a fuse and if i do obligation to change something wat would it be
if the fuse underneath the hood is less than 40 next you may have undersized telecommunication for that amp, but chances are your o.k. a telecommunication that can't handle 40 is pretty small stuff.

jason, the fuse below the hood should be set for the capability of the line not the equipment, its there to protect the chain from melting surrounded by the event of a short, i would not change it to a highly developed fuse, because then you loose this protection.

Larry / jason - i do see your point, but what you enjoy to be very scrupulous of is if the fuse near the freestyle is too small then it is possible the wire is too small and could be a fire threat. if you try to pull more power thru a cable than it is rate for a electrical fire can break out. and thats precisely what your example would be doing, it would not be for no reason, it would be because the WIRE is going to come to nothing. if you get a larger tackle then a larger fuse is part of the pack of it.
it is posible that at some pont someone installed the fuse to protect the equipment, and although that is the wrong drive it would mean a larger fuse is adequate for that wire, but thats just if it was installed undersized to get going with. chew over of it this way what if that is to say a 16 ga wire? would you want to be around when 50 amps is put thru it? the telecommunication will melt the insulated jacket, causeing a dierect short between the ground and the power telecommunication, this is very precarious situation, and god help you if it happen between the fuse and the battery...

I dont do saloon audio but from the electrical point of view, you want a wire that can button 40 amps, and perhaps they put within large telecommunication when you installed your older amp and it could be all right, but check with relations who are specialists. Call tweeter or whoever does car audio contained by your area and ask them.
I would say-so that a number 8? wire, and fused at the freestyle, to protect the wire is how you should lead your amp. You should always protect the conductors because if those conductors shorted against something underneath the hood, your mobile would blow up, since the conductors are not fused.
the built in fuse on the amp is for the amp and the fuses at the freestyle are for the conductors.

Rick, I don't reckon jason is completely wrong, you both have valid points, but if you hold a total of 50 amp fuses in the equipment you would want the freestyle fuse to be equal to that to prevent blowing of the battery fuse for no explanation, and then game the wire according to the fuse at the battery-operated, so that is protected as very well. Correct me if I am wrong, I could be.

I understand rick, specifically why I said to match the flex to the fuse. But both the fuse and wire involve to be adequate for the emergency from the equipment. And obviously the conductor take presidency over the equipment for safety reason. It would help if JP would state what size fuse is at the mobile and what wire is individual used.
We might need a arbitrator as well...
Answers: As said since, if wiring for your previous amp be done correctly you'll be ok. Just remember to change the fuse lower than the hood to a bigger fuse since you've got a bigger amp presently. If you have more than one amp, replace the fuse beneath the hood with the total amps of adjectives the fuses added together.

Rick, how do you expect to get 40 amps through a 25 amp fuse? Yeah, it may work for 5 mins, but no extended length of time. I understand what the fuse is here for, but I also understand that 25 is not equal to 40. And I also agree that something that can't knob 40 amps is pretty small, but again, if the fuse isn't going to provide adequate power...you're gonna hold blowing them. So, if you're running anything smaller than 10ga, which you shouldn't be anyways...then procure some 8ga just to be locked and and properly rated fuse.
