I have a stock cd/radio in my motor. Should you get a new headunit to control the subs or would a stock cd/radio work basically fine?
As for getting a signal to the amp from the radio; if the amp have high-level inputs (aka: line or speaker-level) then you can simply stroke off of the rear speakers within your car to wire to the amp. This is recommended over the subsequent option for 2 reasons, I'll capture to that after this
The second option, if your amp doesn't have high-level inputs (most do), is to buy an LOC (line-out convertor). This converts the soaring powered speaker signal into low powered RCA outputs for your amp.
If your amp has high-level inputs, don't get an LOC. LOC's enjoy more noise than high smooth inputs in the amp, plus, they cost more money!

Answers: An aftermarket stereo is always best when upgrading sound. Or buy a foreign processor/line driver. I like my 3sixty.2 best, but there are profusely of nice ones out there.
