Im redoing my nouns system in my truck. I be wondering what materials I can use to line my box to deepen bass.
I dont hold money to purchase the actual liner itself, and was wondering materials i could use i can find within my house
The stuffing from a pillow, blankets, foam, etc... Be creative.
You can draw from 'polyfil' (what's inside pillows, etc...) from your local arts and crafts store.
Make sure the stuff you use will not get into the subs gamut of motion, or it might cause destroy to it.
Pollyfil is a nouns absorption, dampening fiber that will deepen bass, provide cleaner midrange, tone down any unwanted reverberation and augment the dynamic extension of any speaker system.
It also helps remove standing waves, which is something resembling an echo inside the box. This will donate you tighter and more accurate bass. It also helps to provide a flatter frequency response to the overall sound, which is right. Besides this, it also helps drain the vibration of the box, which results within less distortion. There is a big difference to the bass when you enjoy an insulated box.
Damping also increases subwoofer efficiency by dissipating some vim that affects the sub, particularly the voice coil. It is advisable to put damp material inside a box. Pillow polyfill and fiberglass insulation are adjectives, though polyfill is a lot easier on your skin. Polyfill also "tricks" a sub into thinking it is within a bigger box. Most sealed and vent enclosures require 1/2 lb. of dampening stuff per cubic foot of internal enclosure space. For best results it is recommended to loosely swarm the material throughout the coop.
Look for polyfil in the craft partition at Wal-Mart. It's not as expensive as you think.
