To set up a car stereo harness, I hold a standard crimping tool and red (22-18 gauge?) crimps. This must be pretty elemental, but I am a little perplexed: pushing from the differing ends makes the rope fibers collide, and twisting the wire set of two makes it route too thick to fit surrounded by.
Or do you just to strip smaller number insulation, and not expect the wires to touch each other inside the crimp terminal? What's the electrically nouns way?
Also, on how several spots on the terminal do you crimp?
To be sure we're talking around the same crimps, steal a look at http://www.coffeemovie.info/misc/crimps....
Answers: if the wire ends are touching inside the butt connector (crimp terminal as you christen it) then you've stripped rotten too much insulation either trim stale a little excess rope and crimp away or leave it the track it is, crimp it and wrap the whole treaty in electrical cassette to avoid shorting the exposed wire. You should merely need to crimp once for respectively side on the thin portion of the connector right at the point where on earth it starts to get plump at the ends. Crimping is ok, but if your friends or family find out you can install a coup¨¦ stereo they are sure to be knocking down your door to do theirs for them. I recommend erudition how to solder (prononced SAW-ter). It's cheap to learn and after a short time practice you'll be a pro. Good Luck!
I use these:
Strip enough chain to go to the center of the connector & don't overcrimp.
Use the blue for 14 ga rope
Red for smaller
Yellow for bigger
I also get the shrink tube type depending on exposure to elements
