(I hold 2 subwoofers and one is blown out)can i hook up just one subwoofer and not the other minus problems?

a friend of mine gave me (2) 10" sws earthquake subs beside the box. he said one of them is blown out. they are 200 RMS each totaling to 400 RMS. can i gain a 400 RMS amplifier, and only hook up one sub to it? one of them is blown out but i want to replace it within the future but for immediately just roll around near a single 10". would this work? i dont want to fry my amp or anything. so yeah, 400RMS total for the subs, 400 RMS total for an amp (2 channels?) and can i hook up with the sole purpose one sub and not hook up the other without problems.

What size port should i use for...

Answers:    ably it seams lucid to me what to do... if there are 2 subs they are imagined 4 ohms each wired to a 2 ohm nouns final. with only just one sub your running a 4 ohm load, when you replace the blown sub (only buy a exact replacement) next you would be back to 2 ohms. heres the cool piece about this situation. most amps that are rate at say 400 watts mono into a 2 ohm nouns are rated at around individual 200 watts into a 4 ohm load... so the amp contained by a sence grows with the purchace of a trial sub...
that makes sense?

here is a example
220 watts into 4 ohms (perfect for one sub)
400 watts rms into 2 ohm (perfect for 2 subs)
