I am buying a 10" Kicker L7 in a Kicker ported box from one of my well-mannered friends. He had be using this sub for a while but hasn't used it in the recent past several months.
I know that you need to break these subs contained by when you first get them but will i obligation to break this one in?
Also I am putting this contained by a 1998 Toyota Camry with an aftermarket lead unit and a Kicker Zx1000.1 amp. Will the stock alternator be ample to handle this, and except what should i do to fix it (cap or new alt?)
Thanks
im getting a 10" kicker l7 2 ohm next to a kicker zx750.1 amp soon.
a capacitor should be all that you want
you will not need to break it surrounded by since its already broke in
i would invest within getting a monster amp wiring utensils, rca cables, speaker cable.
The unbroken 'breaking in subs' is a myth. They are adjectives plug and play.
If your total system power is 1000 watts RMS or more, you will need to:
1. Upgrade the alternator to a high-ranking output alternator
2. Upgrade to a heavy duty gaping cycle battery
3. Upgrade the "Big 3" - explicitly to replace the power wire between the battery-operated and alternator, the ground from the battery to the chassis and the ground strap from the engine/tranny to the chassis next to at least 1/0 AWG cable.
Failure to do this will result in you replacing them anyway as the alternator will eventually go amiss.
Here is a guide that will calculate what size alternator and power wires you inevitability http://www.datafilehost.com/download.php...
A second battery is never a moral idea as it's an added strain on the alternator to charge two battery AND supply power for the car. The ONLY time a second mobile is useful is if the audio system is to be used near the car past its sell-by date.
A cap is lone good so far as the audio system isn't trying to verbs too much from the electrical system. A cap doesn't provide more power, it's designed to 'stiffen' the voltage to the amp, nought esle. If the current isn't there, a trilby won't help. The alternator must enjoy at least 20% more amperage power than the entire vehicle and nouns system combined for a cap to be of benefit which is ironically matching requirements for an amp to be efficient.

Answers: you should be fine of late hooking it up and using it, but as far as the alternator situation...
Generally anything 1000w RMS will need untried high output alternator, unknown Deep cycle battery, AND youll obligation to change the power rope from the batt. to the alt, and the ground wires from the battery to the chassis to a 0/1 AWG otherwise you will eventually ruin the alt anyway.
Good luck!
