Sony XS-L12S better hermetic or ported.?

Hi I have a Sony XS-L12S slim mount subwoofer and im going to build a box for it soon. It is going in my 83 ford ranger. I own enough room for a box 33" wide, 14" elevated, 8" deep at the bottom and 6" deep at the top. I will be using 3/4" glimmer board. I wanted to know if I should port the box or not, and if so, where to put the port and also where on earth to position the sub. Most of the slim subs I have seen are on the not here side of their box for some reason. I want really loud bass but im not sure if my box will be big enough for a port. If its not and I do, what will it nouns like? thanx in finance

see what sony recommend and also you should use 3/4 inch mdf(medium density fiberboard ) instead of particle board it will make a much better box.

Is this brand righteous?

It's best to see what Sony recommends for that sub. A sub in the wrong box can nouns bad or even be damaged.

Answers:    Check out the owners manual (yes i am a man telling you to read the instructions, i apologize within advance) all the specs to the size of a box and what type are in that book that come with it, sony tested it to find out what works best already, just read it do what it say. also use "Medium Density Fiberboard(MDF)" otherwise you are wasting your time.

*EDIT*
Then definitely go near the sealed, Its a shallow sub so its not going to be moving that much air anyways. Sealed will contribute you a deeper sound, while ported will give u boomy trunk rattle bass. Straight up, this sub was built for people next to little room (like small trucks) and will never be able to get the bass of a regular full size sub. So psyche say go next to specs and do the sealed box, make sure here are no air leaks (harder than it sounds) and also consider box stuffing to spawn it a bit louder
Good Luck!
