Subwoofer question?

I have a Alpine SWR-1242D Type-R 12" subwoofer next to dual 4-ohm voice coils with power handling: 200-500 watts RMS (250 watts per coil) and crag power: 1,500 watts. I got it hooked up beside a Alpine MRP-M450 Mono subwoofer amplifier 400 watts RMS x 1 at 2 ohms. What settings should i put that you guys recommend.

My amp is half path and I put my bass stereo to +6 so will that blow my subs?

Four l5 4 ohm electrical system to...

Answers:    since your sub has dual 4ohm voicecoils you could telecommunication the sub in parallel so it see a 2 ohm load. looks resembling the amp is not up to par with the sub so i suggest building a pious ported enclosure to impart you louder bass. but that depends also on what car you own and how big a space you're willing to administer up. a good 2 1/2 cu.surrounded by. box with a 3 x 6 within. port should do nicely.

other have the bass on your headunit on 0 so you dont distort your other speakers. have the bass up to 6 will not blow your subs but it might blow your other speakers. adjusting bass from the headunit boosts adjectives bass frequencies and will surely distort your fronts and rears.

also, after installing the untried box, start to tune the amp from zero beside the headunit volume at 85% to 90%. that way you dont drive the headunit and the sub amp to clipping. of late move the amp gain up till you get the desired bass.

moving the box around the trunk/back of the coup¨¦ also helps surrounded by finding the "sweet spot" for your bass.

300 watt system?

spitzie knows what he is chitchat about, but, i would disagree here, don't build a ported box unless you know what you are doing. If you don't know the Fs of your sub, don't build a ported box. If you build a box next to an Fs of less than your sub, it will exceed the Xmax (excursion limit) and ruin the sub when played at that frequency. BTW Fs means resonant frequency, which will be denoted F sub s or Fs on the manufacturer spec sheet.
The best thing for you to do is to find the cd that you own that have the loudest bass and put in within the cd player. Next step, turn the gains on your amp adjectives the way down. Next, turn up the cd as loud as you ever would(get on the interstate beside the windows down). Also, set the bass on your herald unit at 0db since you do the afore mentioned steps. You want to be able to adjust it on the fly beside the cd players controls. Once you have the max volume set, turn the gain up until you can hear the sub, but it is not overpowering. Leave it at this level. You should know how to adjust it depending on the cd and not blow the sub.
