Answers:    ONLY too much power will damage ANY speaker, term.

If too little (if it existed anyway) power blows speakers, they would blow every time you decrease the volume!

Anyway, you cannot of late go and cut a hole within a sealed box and expect it to be louder or even nouns better.

*You can take a cheap-crappo sub and put it within the manufacturer-recommended enclosure and it WILL outperform even a top of the procession sub in a non-optimized box.

I recommend departing your box alone. You you insist on getting/building a ported box;
1. Build it according to the manufacturer of your subs' ported internal volume.
2. Use this guide, base on the port diameter, the box volume, and the tuning frequency you desire, to determine how long the port needs to be;

any amp will do a perfect job it adjectives depends on how much power you want to send to the sub in need exceeding it's RMS wattage by to many watts. Too frequent watts will blow the wiring within the sub itself, but staying within the RMS will render your subs unblowable unless something catastrophic happen that I have never encounter.
