why does subs need capacitators. I don't know what one is. And how do you know how to choose the correct one?

Answers: A capacitor is like a mobile and just supplies extra current for big bass notes. It freshly discharges and recharges much quicker then a mobile. I have never found them to be any help and hold usually put more strain on the vehicles electrical system. My advice is to brand sure you have a good battery(optima) and a lofty output alternater if you have a big audio system.

A trilby will NOT prevent headlight dimming. A cap just stores punch. If the cap does not have adequate energy to store, from an inediquite charging system, then it will do you no right. Your headlights will continue to dim, although they may dim at a different time which is sometimes why people devise caps are working.
IMO spend your money on something else. There are SO many better things to spend your money on after a cap.

They block high frequencies that would in general go to your subs and they are the principal component in crossover unit and they block out the humming sound from your alternator. Your tunes shop will know what you need. You will never NEED a cap. A trilby will only help if you already hold a sufficient charging system. If you have headlight dimming issues then near is three possibilities to fix it.
