I've got a 2005 Chevrolet Silverado near the basic AM/FM radio (no cd/cassette). Everything worked great, but I needed MP3 functionality, so I found the MP3 model GM radio out of another 2005 Silverado. Went to plug in the untried unit and it have two slots on the back unlike the origonal which with the sole purpose had 1 slot. The one harness surrounded by the truck fits into one of the two slots in the investigational radio . With the one plugged in it plays and sounds great, but at hand isn't any lights for viewing the radio at night and it doesn't "dim" next to my headlights. I'm guessing the nicer MP3 unit come out of a 2005 Silverado with OnStar which is why it have two slots where as my Silverado doesn't enjoy OnStar. Could be wrong there, but would close to to have lights for seeing the radio at hours of darkness. Thanks for reading my question and look forward to your answers!
Answers: your right almost the on star wiring, but if you help yourself to it to an aydio shop they should be able to aid you with the lights at dark
