Will I have need of to switch to a High-Output Alternator?

I have a Chevy Cavalier and here's the system I'm going to put in it:

-2 Alpine 12" Type-R Subwoofers (4Ω + 4Ω) beside a power handling capacity of (RMS): 500W

-1 PDX 1 channel 1000w Mono Power Density Digital Amplifier

- and 1 Alpine CDA-9887 CD/MP3/WMA/AAC Receiver

Now... My press is, "Will I need to switch to a High-Output alternator for this system, or will I be just fine?"

Subwoofer rattle problem.....?

If your total system power is 1000 watts RMS or more, you will want to:

1. Upgrade the alternator to a high output alternator
2. Upgrade to a heavy duty reflective cycle battery
3. Upgrade the "Big 3" - that is to replace the power cable between the battery and alternator, the ground from the battery to the chassis and the ground strap from the engine/tranny to the chassis beside at least 1/0 AWG wire.

Failure to do this will result surrounded by you replacing them anyway as the alternator will eventually fail.

Here is a guide that will calculate what size alternator and power wires you want http://www.datafilehost.com/download.php...

A second battery is never a good perception as it's an added strain on the alternator to charge two batteries AND supply power for the car. The ONLY time a second freestyle is useful is if the audio system is to be used with the coupé off.

A cap is one and only good so far as the audio system isn't trying to pull too much from the electrical system. A sou`wester doesn't provide more power, it's designed to 'stiffen' the voltage to the amp, nothing esle. If the current isn't there, a trilby won't help. The alternator must have at most minuscule 20% more amperage power than the entire vehicle and sound system combined for a cap to be of benefit which is ironically duplicate requirements for an amp to be efficient.

upgrade ur big 3 and ull be fine.

one questions tho, what is up near people putting systems worth the same or more later there cars? lol

Subs and amps?

You probably will. But, they are VERY unyielding to find for Cavaliers -I have one.

First off, that Sony amp will NEVER put out 1000watts RMS. Closer to 400watts RMS. On the other mitt, the PDX1000.1 puts out about 1100watts RMS, so there is a huge difference between the 2.

You will at LEAST obligation to do the Big3 upgrade:
http://www.the12volt.com/installbay/foru... in 4g wire.

If your lights dim and/or you hold voltage dropping issues, then i'd look into a HO alternator -you'll still probably need one. Get the largest one you can afford.

**Do NOT join 'power-stiffening capacitors'. They only hurt more as they're just more the alternator have got to keep charged.

Kicker zx750.1 vs Alpine PDX-1.600?

Answers:    Depending on the vehicle, but I'd shift with one, like my final answer, the 1000RMS line, is where population need to upgrade the big 3.

H/O Alternator
Deep Cycle Battery
And the alternator wire, it is probably more or less 16g, and you should look into replacing that with something like a 12g.
