'00 Civic D16Y7, want to swap to an engine at smallest around 150 hp, what one? Budgetwise ?

Looking to swap my Civic '00 D16 1.6l engine to something a good 50 hp more powerful. I don't know what fits what, any engine codes I should look for? Any wonderful engines that are popular to swap with my demanding engine? Thanks

Answers:    Since this engine is already available in the Civic, the B16A2 is your best bet. It is rate at 160 hp. Your D16Y7 is rated at 127 horsepower near a SOHC VTEC. Yes, it is a VTEC eventhough it doesn't say VTEC on the spout cover. The B16A2 is essentially the DOHC VTEC version of that engine beside more aggressive cams.

If you want around 50 more hp, you can go next to the B18C5 engine from the Integra Type R (rated at 195 hp). Still, you can simply get a B18C1 from an Integra GSR (rated at 170 hp) or the B16A2 and slightly mod them and find similar power output for considerably less money. Keep contained by mind that these engines only come in a brochure transimssion. Also, with respectively swap, you'll need the tranny,ECU and hydraulic clutch from the donor engine since yours is a cable clutch if you hold a manual tranny. Another odds is to turbocharge your engine with just about 5-6 lbs of boost. That should satsify your power craving for a while and it will cost you less than any of these swaps.

Choices..B16A from an EK9/4, or a B18C from an Integra Type-R. Extend your budget and you can find a K20A which will bring you smiles all the course...
