i have a short somewhere. my flipside defrosters dont work and my headlights went out completely. when the mechanic replaced my multi purpose switch today it didnt fix the headlights. he hit the side of the race where the fuses r. when he did the lights come on. this is how he figured i own a short. (i didnt mention the rear defrosters i lost those the closing of last winter and forgot nearly it until the weather got cool again but wouldnt that b from the short also?)
anyways, how much would it cost to hold the wiring done? its ok if its a rough ballpark amount. i dont no much about these things, but i of late payed for it to b fixed plus i had a squirrel chew my spark plug and hose so i own to pay to hold those fixed so money is quickly becoming tight. im worried the electrics will b realy expensive. any insight?
Answers: I would say that your mechanic your taking it to doesn't know what he is discussion about or what is going on and feed you a line of crap. Your lights dont nouns like a short. A short would be fuses blowing ( problem where on earth your power wire is grounding pulling to lots amps blowing the fuse. You have an intermitent spread out. Which means you own a loose connection some where on earth. This will connect to complete the circuit every once and a while when the conditions are right. sounds like a electrical pin is loose not getting a honourable connection on the lights. Check and trade name sure that when you are plugging your light switch contained by that he replaced, or fuse holder, the connection is verbs and that the connnectors are not pushing out of the connector body. This is also refered to as high resistence this is when you do not hold a good ample connection to take the amps to operate the function. As for the defroster is it blowing fuses, or is fuse good and it packed up? If fuse is blown, you have a short( postive cable is touching ground somewhere). Possibilities window is out of order, wiring adjectives together. If fuse is good you enjoy and open target your loosing your 12 volts postive to the defroster, or the ground side. You have to own both to make a function work properly. As for the two self the same problem. no both are on different circuits and enjoy different fuse for protection as u will find if you look up the light fuse location and the backside defog location in you owners brochure if you have one. So you own two different problems. Wish I was at hand to help. Find a correct mechanic it is hard to estimate cost of a problem close to this because you never know until you work on it. A good technician should be capable of tell you within about an hour what he think or how much he thinks it is going to cost if he is any angelic. Don't know a lot but satisfactory to get me contained by trouble. Hope I helped you and made sense I tried to craft it as simple as posibble Thanks Jeff
