I have a passat tdi. The rear door (behind the driver seat) does not widen from either the inside or the outside. At first the door would not open from the outside due to some problem next to the mechanisim in the door but could still be opened from the inside, however, whilst investigating the door i mistakenly put the child lock on and presently the door does not open at all. Could anyone recommend what to do?
Answers: This will not be natural, the only possibility I can think of is try to remove the door trim to access the mover on the inside. To do this you will need to remove the trim over the grab pedal to access the 2 phillips screw and since you wont be able to remove the lower screw then you will own to yank the trim off cause damage to the trim but this is better than damaging the outer portion. Once you are competent to get this off after you may be able to reach the latch piece of equipment with a hook or something to release the latch.
The only other possibility is to remove the trim on the outside where on earth a key tumbler would normally walk but to do this you will damage something on the outside. You would then be capable of reach the outer release mechanism, moral luck
