2003 Acura TL?

I'm looking to buy a car as I'm switching job and have to furnish up my company vehicle. I don't want to spend over 18k and have be looking at Volvo S40, Audi A4, and the Acura TL. All around the 2003 year. There is quite the price go underwater to the new body style 2004 TL. I did enjoy a honda in times gone by and am leaning towards the Acura. My one concern after doing research is the nouns glitch they had during 2003. Apparently copious of these had to be replaced and Acura honored it near a warranty? If I buy a used one from a dealership, will Acura still honor this if it goes out? All of the vehicle I'm looking at are 50k miles or less. Any input within general in the region of the 2003 TL would be great too.

Thanks in finance!

Answers:    I owned the same Acura TL, but a 2001 model year until 2005. As you are correct, threre is a bleak transmission problem near the car model run. Consumer Reports finally rectify the rating on used cars recently giving adjectives the model years a black circle for transmission relilablity.

Acura did extend on adjectives TL models for that design the warranty to 100,000 miles. When I sold my car I salaried $50 to Acura to transfer the warranty to someone else (it have 81,000 miles on it, the tranny failed the first time at 61,000).

When the nouns failed (it locked up contained by 3rd gear and would not shift again) I limped to the dealership where on earth I was 8th surrounded by line for a nouns for the TL. It took 18 days to get it replaced, and I be given a TSX in the meantime. I be warned next to the replacement that the fix was not fixed - in other words it would founder again at about duplicate mileage if my driving habits be the same. After I sold my saloon, the new owner told me two years next (this year) that the transmission poor a second time at 118,000 miles... out of warranty, and he owed $4500 on the replacement.

So, in a nutshell, if you are okay beside it hanging over your boss it is a great car (I loved it from the light of day I bought it until I sold it). However, be aware if the transmission have failed already so you can estimate (if you drive one and the same way) when it will fail again. Unfortunately as a Honda go, this is not one of the most reliable cars. As my name say, I switched to GM's Saab brand and have be much happier ever since (as much as I liked the Acura).

Go to http://www-odi.nhtsa.dot.gov/cars/ where on earth you can research service bulletins, recalls and complaints for the TL and to see if you hold a remedy if the transmission fail..
