I lost the only key to my minivan. If it doesn't turn up around how much will it cost to get a new switch made? I just want a ballpark amount so I know what to expect.
greatly because you have to call a locksmith and their not cheap!
Answers: Call the dealer where on earth the van was originally purchased. Offer them proof (fax a copy of your registration). Tell them the problem and ask if they have the switch code on file. Dealerships are required to hold onto info on all vehicle for 7 years. They should have the key code and be capable of make a key from the code. Even though you no longer enjoy the key. Make them make 2 or more for locked keeping. Look to spend about 4 bucks per key granted that near is no chip inside. Some keys have a chip explicitly special to each car so that the ignition will start. If it does hold a chip, expect to pay an additional 30 bucks to capture it programmed.
Good luck in finding the original.

if you appointment a lock smith ,it will cost what ever his service fee is plus the cost of the key,or you can pocket the serial number and go to a dealer, and they will charge around 10 bucks or more if they can cut if from the serial number, some dealer will say they cant do this, the lock smith will be your best bet on this one,and probably the fastest also, good luck.

It depends if your knob has a chip in it or not. Most strange cars especially Dodge you have to go to the contractor and get one. You can try and find a key making place that can cut a switch. What they will do is take a blank key and cut the grooves to fit your lock cylinder. Check near the dodge dealer and they might can get the push button code from your V.I.N. number and then you can take it to a lock smith to catch on cut. When you get one be sure to make copies.if you appointment a lock smith ,it will cost what ever his service fee is plus the cost of the key,or you can pocket the serial number and go to a dealer, and they will charge around 10 bucks or more if they can cut if from the serial number, some dealer will say they cant do this, the lock smith will be your best bet on this one,and probably the fastest also, good luck.
