1966 Mustang - 6 cyl. 200 inch motor
It's been a bit cold out (around 32-40 degrees) lately. During this weather this season, my mustang won't start very liberally. She's been have a rough start; I had to turn on/off in the region of 5 times earlier today until she run good at rust. I started driving and then she died and I be able to turn her over, single I had to hang on to giving gas or she'd die. By the way I own 1/4 tank gas that I put surrounded by yesterday. I put her into drive and she died so she wouldn't run unless I gave gas surrounded by park or neutral. I be called away for a couple hours and in a minute she won't turn over. The starter turns and so does the fan. I give her some gas while starting and she'd sound approaching she almost will start but instead die. I replaced the fuel filter last month. Any design?
Answers: I would try a new freestyle first, the cold weather can cause the mobile to lose is voltage, and cause it to be complex starting the car, and the ignition not to fire right.
Sounds approaching the choke is not fuctioning properly. Pump the gas pedal several times, and then try to start it. You may involve to keep pumping it slightly to hold it running, until it will finally idle, and it may steal 15 minutes before you can drive it next to out it stalling. The new cars are computer controlled. Your outdated Mustang requires the choke plate to be shut completely to make the engine start, and later should open just about 1/4 inch as soon as the engine starts. It will then expand the rest of the way at a snail`s pace as the engine warms up, when adjectives is working like it should. Some of them didn't even own electric chokes, they had a heating system hose running right by the choke cap to provide boil to open the choke. Either route, this should get you going, and you stipulation to find an old timer to work on your carb/choke! The childlike mechanics these days don't own a clue about carbs and chokes.....as they are impracticable anymore. Need any more help, lately holler...and good luck!
