88 Ford Ranger Headache?

I changed the float in my 88 Ford Ranger. Okay, this in fact sounds like a silly examine, but I cannot start the truck yet as I am waiting for a exotic master clutch cylinder. When I turn the key to attain some juice to the fuel pump, the gas rate is still not showing me the amount of gas in the container. Does the car stipulation to be fully started? If the answer is no and I get the hunch it is, mind you the sending unit looks resembling it is in awesome shape and the pump is working economically, should I consider the gas gauge itself need to be changed?

Answers:    Unplug the sending unit and ground the cable that feeds the rate. I think it is ashen with a white stripe. The measuring device should go to the full position near the key on, and turn to the empty position when the chain is not grounded. This verifies the electric wiring harness integrity and proper gauge operation. If adjectives that checks ok, you know the problem is the sender.

Could be the guage might be shorted as its mounted on a printed circuit board in the tear. Also check your dash rate fuses to be sure you don't have one blown. There should be smaller quantity than 2 or 3 volts going to the gauge.
