I'm looking at buying a 2006 Chevy Silverado with 23k miles on it from a private seller. Does anyone know if I can still buy an extended warranty from a dealership? I know Ford will permit you buy one if the truck has less than 36k miles on it. Is it indistinguishable with other brands??

Answers: I own a shop, and this is what I think; The solely way to get the "true" answer is to bid a dealer, and see what they have to tender. In my opinion many extended warranty aren't worth buying. Once you read the fine print in most of them, you will see what I mean. Case contained by point: I saw one warranty that covered the transmission, but once I read the fine print; it covered the transmission armour, and not the inside working parts, so what good was that? It is extremely major to fully read any extended warranty "before" signing on the dotted line. What is covered, and what is not covered, may be a lot smaller number than what you "think" you are getting. Many people think an extended warranty is impossible to tell apart as the factory warranty, but its not. If the transmission case is covered, but not the insides, consequently you don't have anything you can use in 99% of claims you may enjoy. I'm not saying all of them are this road, but reading, understanding, and purchasing a warranty that you can benefit from, can be a nightmare sometimes.

yes u can, i work at a dealer, if you are not out of the businessman warranty, you can still buy extended warranty, buy it from my place so i get 50 bucks
ps. buy the gmpp total plus warranty, its the best one offered
