I have a 2000 Ford Explorer sport(2wd). I live in the Fort worth,Tx nouns. What would be a resonable price to have this valve changed out beside a new one(valve & labor)?
Valve is about $100 at seller, $40 at Autozone, give or take, and it should appropriate about 30 minutes, so I would guess about $150 max.
I enjoy same problem with 2002, trouble is it's on the transmission, and not that undemanding for a DIY. As to changing it, mine has cause the check engine light to go on, but have in no way effect the car, so I haven't bothered to change it all the same.
dealership wil prolly charge $150-$175 depending on their labor rates. Might find a local shop to do it for less. Goto autozone and ask them to pull the portion and to give you a diagram of where it's located and you can agree on if you can do it yourself. EGR Exhaust Gas Recirulator typically is located on the intake manifold. Never been below the hood of an 00 Explorer though.
Answers: The question I would resembling to ask is WHY you are asking about the price to replace the EGR valve? EGR valve very rarely go amiss on Ford products. Did you get EGR codes retrieved by "experts" from Auto Zone, or a similar place? For your information, it is almost always the DPFE sensor that fail, causing EGR codes to be set. Ford has updated the sensor NUMEROUS times. The subdivision number from Ford for the DPFE sensor is F77Z-9J460-AB for $71.28US through www.fordparts.com. To replace this part yourself takes adjectives of 1 minute, and should be self-evident once you see the part. To erase the code, you singular need to disconnect the battery for a few second. Hope this helps.
