Citroen C3 engine?

On my almost new Citroen C3 Cool I notice a cog near the front of the engine that I have not notice on my privious cars. At it's top end it has what looks resembling a spark plug with a bright green wire going from it. What is this element please? Am I right in thinking that this part be not in such a prominent position in my previous Citroen coup¨¦ engines (Saxo and C3 Desire)?

GMC Sonoma clutch problem?

It is the oxygen sensor, or lambda sensor. This is approaching an electronic "nose" smelling and testing the exhaust gases and corrects the mixture of fuel and nouns mix entering the engine. The sensor has moved from the front exhaust pipe onto the top of the exhaust manifold. You enjoy 2 on this, and most modern cars, one before the "cat" and one after, these measure the activities of the emmission syatems.

If it's the part with the cable that goes to a green connector by the dipstick, it seems to be some sort of exhaust sensor.

Answers:    Yeah jimbob is right, it's the upstream oxygen sensor, it has a bright green connector close to the dipstick. This will have be in the same place on your previous C3 (providing it be a petrol version) and may have also been within the same place on your Saxo if it was a petrol magazine with the later style front failure.
