I wonder if any one can help concerning this problem?
I enjoy a 2003 Xsara picasso HDI exclusive with a trip computer stalk by the steering tiller. Normally, you can press the end of the stalk to correction the display on the dash (fuel consumption, ultimate service, radio/cd, etc). However, this has stopped functioning and in a minute only the predicted fuel breadth is displayed (if you change the volume or cd, after it shows details of that for a short while before going final to fuel range.
Could this possibly be a dirty contact contained by the stalk? If so, can the stalk be dismantled to sort this problem out?
Otherwise, am I looking at having to gain a new trip computer stalk?
Any proposal gratefully received!!

Answers: Whatever you do DO NOT trial fit the panel out of another Picasso as theres a chance (if the other vehicle has sophisticated mileage than yours) that the other car's mileage can be tranferred to your car and it can't be reversed. I sometimes own problems with the contacts on these instrument panel. Remove the panel (prise off the plastic surround panel to access the screws), unclip the connector and GENTLY bend the contact pins on the reverse of the panel by a very small ammount beside an electricians screwdriver. Now retry the panel and see if all is economically. If not then remove and disconnect the radio and retry the control as some radios can do other functions to go substandard. If it works ok the radio may be faulty. If piece still aren't working properly i would take it to a prevalent dealer, they can theory test the switch to see if it's at fault and advocate you best. You can't buy just one stalk for this sports car, you have to buy the complete switchgear (both stalks and airbag slipring contained by one unit), i think it costs nearly lb170. It can be dismantled to a point or so i've heard as when they be first introduced we used to have lots of problems next to indicators not working, the unit would be sent away for repair but i wouldn't advise this as it's a specialist employment.

the clocks in these cars are remarkably troublesome, try and find someone with impossible to tell apart car and swap the digital display, i enjoy had numerous fault, all hold traced back to this.
