my citroen saxo is stalling itself every morning even if i am stationary. does anyone have any philosophy about why it is doing this?
Answers: It will be(most imagined on a TU type engine one of two things) the stepper motor/idle actuator on the throttle body, this can be removed and cleaned but you need to know what you are doing.... it will also want re initialising after, or the tick over will be all over the place.....
Best point to do is to take it to a small (non marketer (so cheaper) ) garage and ask them to diagnose it and if found to be faulty purely replace it... It`ll cost between 50 and 100 pounds for the part and more or less half an hour work... Though also..........
If it only does it when cold, it could also be the engine warmth sensor(the green one). If it`s not working correctly it`ll conjecture the engine is warm and not angle the rev`s/inject more fuel accordingly. This will inflict it to stall but only when the engine is cold as when its reheat it`ll run just going on for as normal lacking any noticable difference.... This is the cheaper of the two... under 40 pounds fitted i should hope.
