Dead mobile?

I own a 1998 Jeep Cherokee XJ 4X4 , the other day I lost adjectives power to my accessories and my vehicle died shortly after. It turned out that the freestyle was completely drained. I have the battery charged and checked at a local parts store and it be fine. I rechecked it at home and confirmed that it was fine. I pulled the alternator and have that checked, it was fine. I be told that it may be that my cables are unpromising. I checked them with a multimeter and adjectives seemed to get a current through them. I checked the fuses in the fuse box underneath the hood and all be intact. Should I replace my battery cable even though they checked out fine? What kind of reading should I be looking for on the multimeter? Is at hand something else that I should check? Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Answers:    Like adjectives rechargeable batteries, a vehicle battery can be over charged. When a coup¨¦ is running the alternator is continuously generating current. To prevent the mobile from being over charged relations use whats called a "regulator" to determine if the bettery wishes to be charged or not. The output of the alternator goes into the regulator and the regulator connect to the mobile to charge or not charge the battery depending on its current state.

Regulators regularly go desperate. You may want to check this. Although it might not be the problem it seems you've checked only about everything else except the wires. If in attendance is a short in a cable your better off going to a professional.

If you use a multimeter on your cable you should check that the DC resistivity is 0 ohms.

You might also think more or less checking your "coil". This is a voltage converter that transforms your regular 12V to 40,000 V for the spark plugs. Sometimes these short out. You can check this by disconnecting the unit and following an owners booklet to check the various impedance (resistivity) of the terminal.

Also, if your car died after your electronics be on, that would suggest the battery is not the problem at adjectives. Once a car is started the together vehicle operates on the alternator power merely.

Good luck.

Maybe you should wait and see if everything is OK, except try replacing the battery first.
