Would putting shorty headers and dual exhaust on my 76' 350 nova make it nouns a lot louder to the point where on earth it would be hard to enjoy a convo in my sports car while on the freeway? My dad keeps describing me that its going to be too loud with headers on, is he merely trying to scare me or is it true? Right presently my car isnt "very" loud, I expect you can hear it coming but it has a nice "bom bom bom" nouns, but I want headers so it will perform better.
Its not the headers that breed noise, its the mufflers or withdrawal of that follow them. Headers are notorious for leak and require constant maintenance, compared to pattern iron manifolds. Although if you re-jet your fuel system to match you may gain a small increase within gas mileage to go beside some extra horse power.

dual exhaust is sufficient
no need for headers on a stock motor
alter your differential to a 3.73
now thats better than headers
Answers: for a time louder, but smoother sound and better gas mileage too!
