I am currently thinking about finding a 96-01 Honda Civic EX, with the D16Y8 motor (SOHC V-TEC) . I own the budget and plans all laid out to purchase a T3/T4 turbo and kit (piping, etc.) I am thinking give or take a few doing all bolt on work, (Ignition, Exhaust, Filters, ECU, etc.) Then pushing 6-9 psi on the turbo.
Ok, that is ONE plan. I enjoy had friends of mine who have done this (Give or purloin a few diff brands of products) and made 250 ish HP with 150 ish foot lbs of torque. All for under 2k budget.
Also, I thought in the region of find a large diesle turbo and putting a smaller bearing within it, so it spools up faster.
Have you thought something like looking at an Si?
The Si comes with the Acura RSX engine, and can handle the extra strain better of a turbo. Turbonetics have a great turbo kit for the Si.
You have a angelic plan, great platform to start on and if you blow it its cheap to replace. If i were you, id invest contained by Suzuki Vitara pistons with eagle rods, they slip right into the d16 motors. These pistons have a lower compression and can button for heat than the stock pistons. Eagle rods and Vitara pistons brand new will set you fund only $250, you can make 350ish next to that setup. Also invest in a new intake compound, or maybe one off a D16Z6, Y8's intake mani are the worse flowing.
with the sole purpose problem is, the car will never last 4-6 years after you turbo it.

Search around on those sites, and look at what other people did. Check out the different turbos people enjoy used, even a couple threads about when their turbos spool. I'll tell you right presently, the only way your engine is going to ending is to spend the $ on a quality engine management system, to capture it professionally tuned, and to maintain the car religiously.

Is it average 4 the 2 radiator...
if your discussion about the 6th gen civic i dont think they come contained by 01 because i think they changed it to the d17 motor but any way i've done a 00 ex turbo once but if your trying to spend rather under 2k it might be kind of tough. origin being is because the sohc motor isnt really ment for turbo unless you pretty much redo the undamaged motor because if you dont you have a very particularly high chance of the motor blowing. i spent roughly 4 - 5k doing this but end up the motor blowing up after a year and a half and basically replaced it with another d16 motor and left it alone. you might be capable of do it for less than 2k but a lot of preservation will be done to keep the motor in pious shape if you plan on driving it for 4 years and best bet to do this is look for after martket parts from integra also depending on what it is it'll fit the civic d16 motor and hopefully it will cost much cheaper. at the end of this i was competent to push 329 hp to the wheel and had a vtec controller and hondata and dropped the vtec down to 2 RPM for faster lift off before the turbo spools at 3.5 rpmGood Luck^^
