hey i want to lift my 1996 encyclopaedia 2 door jeep cherokee and i pretty much know nothing around it but i want to lift it resembling maybe 5-6 inches, if thats not too much? anyway, do you enjoy to buy new springs or a apparatus or spacer or what? im clueless but please help!
Answers: OK. Well depending on how big you wanna go here are a few ways to get near. YOu can build your own. Or go near a ready made gear. If you go near a ready made utensils i would do tnt customs or Rubicon Express both are Long Arm Kits which allow more flex. I have a 98 Cherokee lift 6.5 in.... Heres the route i took as it be cheap.
For the rear I used S10 fern springs, used the smallest and middle one, added them into my leaf pack right below the largest leaf. Than i used a YJ(95 and below) Wrangler backside brake line.
Now for the front you can pick up a set of coils from anywhere. I enjoy a set of RE coils with a spacer to smooth out the front with the backside as RE only make up to 5.5 in coils. YOu will want to find some adjustable control arms to completely wipe out any death wobble. I also would stir with an adjustable track stick. You can than use YJ front brake lines here too.
Here is a general roll to build your own.
RE 5.5 in coils
S10 Leaf Pack
New Center pins
Longer U-Bolts
YJ Brake Lines
JKS Adj Trac Bar
JKS Adjustable Lower Control arms
Set of MJ(comanche) Shocks(rear)
Longer shocks of your choice up front(grand cherokee up country is a nice length)
SYE or RE hack and hit
Check out naxja.org/forum for a bunch of stuff on your cherokee
Also they do not make body lift for cherokees as they are a unibody set up.
Any route you go next to this size lift you will want a Slip Yoke Eliminator or an RE hack and touch kit (both use a front driveshaft on the rear) to exterminate drivetrain vibes. I currently do not have one as i can live near the vibes. I have have the jeep lifter for nearly 20k now lacking any problems.
A cherokee lift, huh? Dude, doesn`t matter what floats your boat. Check this out.
A five to six inch lift is gonna nick a few steps because it is radical. The flowing portion is the body lift. By unbolt the body from the frame, use a tall jack to angle the body and insert spacers between the cab and the frame. A two or three inch move up here is about adjectives you need to grasp started. Keep in mind, though, if you walk higher next to the body lift, you will requirement a steering extension. You could damage your steering knuckle in need the extension. Now, once you have lift the body, devote your attention to the springs. You can buy extended coils for the front. In the rear, palm leaf springs support the vehicle. Two options, insert another fern or two, or buy a new set specifically heat treated to the curvature you have need of for the lift. Stay inwardly reason because you can also damage your drive shaft in the event you have need of an extension and don't install it. I recommend Performance Offroad for the parts you need. These guys should be capable of answer your technical question. Hope this helps, very soon get out in that and sling some mud.
