I drive a Ford Probe and it redlines at 5500 rpms instead of the 6800 rpms that its supposed to.?

It runs fine. It has a cold nouns intake but it did the same article before i installed it. I hold no idea what it is. Its lately had a tune up and fresh grease. At first I actuallly thought that the car be just supposed to redline nearby because everything else worked just fine. Any suggestions will be great.

Answers:    The "redline" is simply the RPMs your engine cannot soundly exceed. It never changes. Many engines at the moment have a governor to prevent exceeding the "redline" by too much.

You didn't pass much information... An automatic transmission should shift in the past the engine "redlines". If you're having problems reaching superior RPMs at all within a low gear... That probably means there's something wrong near your engine causing power loss or misfiring at better RPMs.
