ignition on my truck went out a couple weeks ago, hold a 1994 GMC Sonoma, and not really lookin forward to payin big bucks and rippin apart the steering column to install new ignition. so my friends grandpa suggested puttin surrounded by a push button starter, cheap, looks a lil cooler...any advice on what i should do?

ignition sw or the key lock? there's big diff. The push button entry will work if it is only the start circuit, but if the switch continues to deteriorate other circuits will stop working.

Answers:    When you utter ignition, are you just discussion about the switch lock? or are you talking going on for the electronic box that controls spark and a/f ratio? It sounds like your conversation about the knob lock and I'll base my answer on that.

Ignition locks almost never run out on their own but if yours does, I would definately replace it with a close to ignition for two reasons, 1 you can probably win them from the junk patio for very little $$ and 2 it will comfort with resale attraction, as most people will not trust your electrical system, no matter how right you are.
