I have a Mercedes and to avoid another trip to the shop, I'm posting here: My saloon has a slight smell when I run the stove. It's not an electrical one as I've noticed surrounded by my Mustang I used to have but slightly different. Today I notice a white dust film on the passenger side around the hood. I don't want to be taken help of by the repair shop. Any info. would be greatly appreciated!
Answers: Two totally different things.
The smell is most likely dust built up within the system that burns when the heater heat up. But since you didn't describe the smell, hard to guess.
The white motion picture is probably something picked up from the envrionment. I wouldn't worry something like it.
Unless you are experiencing severe symptoms such as a strong burnt rubber smell and spikes contained by engine temp, if you have no wraning lights on the scamper, I certainly wouldn't give somebody a lift it in.
There are plenty of other times the repair shop will own to take your money for legitimate problems.
