I had lost the original switch of peugeot 306. I bought a new key and get it programmed. But the new key doesn't operate medium locking system. Plz help me:(

My car (ford) handbook tell me that any new keys should be put into the ignition and turned to the second position (without in fact turning the engine on) wait a few moments and then run it out.
