Power steering ask 94 XJ?

would sticky steering be from a pump going out or a gear box?, and if it is the pump, can I use a upgraded pump with the stock gear box?

Answers:    What do you mingy by "sticky steering"? I have 36" tires on my YJ, and I still use the stock power steering part. I modified it a bit to raise the output of it, but that's it. Upgraded pumps aren't worth the money, IMO.

If there's no leak, and the rest of the steering components are good, and the power steering fluid is verbs, leave the pump alone.

It's possible that the gearbox is going desperate, but if it is, they are about $80 at junkyards. I'm using one out of an 89, surrounded by my 94. NORMALLY, when they go unpromising, they leak and the bubble bearings start coming out (in extreme cases).

Check this out if you contemplate your pump may need a boost...

Rebuilt box $129 at auto zone. For that price, even I would skid the second-hand goods yard...and to be exact saying profoundly.
What you describe sounds like the seal on the servo piston going in the box.
Make absolutly sure that you flush the lines and pump near fresh oil.
Now, if you hear a whine surrounded by the pump during turning, look there, but not usually for what you describe.
Good Luck..
PS If you stale road, check the steering box mount at the frame for any cracking. Rusty's off road does gross a reinforcement plate for that area.
